General Introduction
Wet Drum Separator, separates magnetic materials from non-magnetic ones with the help of magnetic force, so as to enhance the purity of materials and improve the quality of mineral concentrates.
Breakdown Illustration
Wet drum separator consists of magnet pack, rotating drum, flow tank, transmission system and support structure etc.
Tank Design and Illustration
There are three tank designs: Concurrent Tank, Counter-current (Steffenson) Tank and Counter-rotation Tank. Material enters the trough tank from the feed box, and will be attracted onto the surface of the magnetic drum when it's passing through the separation area. Then it will be transported by the rotating drum to the concentrate discharge outlet for unloading, while the non-magnetics and the weak magnetics are discharged through the tailing outlet of the trough tank.
Sortek - CXM series wet drum separator with counter-rotation tank design, it is mainly used for automatic and continuous recovery of heavy medium in heavy media coal preparation process, it is designed to realize heavy medium recovery and purification, and it is also applied in the separation and purification of ferromagnetic ore.
CXM Series Advantage
- Dedicated magnetic materials to ensure the magnetic field strength and gradient in the separation depth
- Stainless steel wear-resistant drum with double-cover design, easy to replace, convenient maintenance
- Built-in and wear-resistant aluminum/stainless steel end cap, to avoid water and material splashed by the traditional flange structure
- The O-ring sealing structure is adopted between the drum and the end caps, which is safe and reliable
- External heavy duty bearing can be maintained or replaced without removing the drum
- Counter-rotation tank design with complete stainless steel wear-resistant tank, and long service life
- Magnet pack adjustment with screwed rod, easy to adjust the magnet pack angle in accurate operation
- 12 hours pressure test for the drum to ensure the sealing performance of the drum
- Modular structure, easy to transport and install
Magnetism Principle
In the process of coal preparation, the loss of heavy media suspension (magnetite) is unavoidable. And the loss value has always been an important technical evaluation of coal preparation plant. In order to reduce the cost of coal preparation and improve the recovery of heavy meda, we absorbed the designing experience of magnetic separator from domestic and abroad, applying customized magnetic materials to ensure the magnetic performance.
During our development and designing, we are trying to maximize the magnetic field and its gradient within the separation depth, and that will maximize the adsorption force on the magnetic particles. At the same time, the magnetic energy loss outside the media particles will be mostly decreased.
As per the above calculation figure, at the rated height H, the M magnet with low field intensity but high gradient, provides greater adsorption force on magnetic particles than the N magnet with high field intensity but low gradient. Therefore, to improve the adsorption force of magnets, besides the fixed magnetic field intensity, the field gradient should be considered more.
In our designing work for the core part - the magnet pack, we increase the quantity of magnetic poles, the separation of mag and non-mag particles is rapid and complete, that provides both the high recovery and desliming function. Furthermore, we applied computer-aided system for the magnetism simulation, it provides both high quality and efficiency deisgning work. As a specialized supplier for coal preparation plant, we understand the whole process, offering guarantees for customers' temporary or specific requirements of application.
